Generally, sound is harder to tweak assuming it functions relatively correctly initially. Issues like auto-volume reduction are still unfixed practically. My center channel stays quiet until I change the controller effect to DD 5.1. With this setting the contoller sends 2 channel stereo to the front 2 speakers as well as rear 2 speakers plus the sub woofer. For example for every day computer sound my logitch speaker controller is set to "stereo x 2.1".

It takes software that's dolby digital encoded to bring all 5.1 speakers to life.
